Stop Presses!

Browsing through Amazon.com can be dangerous. On the other hand, you can stumble on some great things. For example, I just added to my wishlist the October release of The Complete Calvin and Hobbes.

Once I get that and the complete collection of FoxTrot, I won't need to read the comics in the paper anymore.

How Lightsabers Work

The factual website How Stuff Works has a great article on How Lightsabers Work. Very informative, and very useful for those technology users who always wanted to know.

Wanna Go To Madagascar?

You won't get that until you go see The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy. But I'm not saying you have to.

The movie was fairly good. It's definitely full of the weird British humor that makes you chuckle more than laugh out loud, just like the books (or at least that's what it does to me). Martin Freeman is amazing, Mos Def is cool enough, both of Sam Rockwell's heads steal the show, and Zooey Deschanel just looks just as hot as she did in that little elf suit at a department store in that one Christmas movie with Will Farrel. ;-)

Like I said, it's not so amazing it's required viewing, but it's at least worth a watch, no matter if it's in theaters or on DVD. I guess I wouldn't mind them making more if they wanted, but I kinda doubt it'll happen. Just remember to bring your towel along!

Music Update

OK, here's what I've been checkin' out lately:

The latest from Mae, The Everglow, is really good. Great songwriting and a cohesive album with great packaging. Too bad most don't have that these days.

I found out that Eisley, one of my new favorite bands, is also bringing along one of my other new favorites for their summer tour. Don't miss Eisley with Lovedrug at The Quest on June 17th or a show near you. Eisley also speaks very highly of the other band, Pilotdrift, so I hope it will be an all-around solid show.

The live DVD from The Elms is definitely worth the dough. The boys have put together a great project and worked so very hard on it - it was really good to hear it after them getting me more and more excited for a whole year. I doubt they could've done a better job, unless you wanted a 5.1 mix.

Ode To Netflix

Alright, folks, it's time time. For a couple weeks now I've been trying out Neflix, the original online movie rental company. And, well, so far, it's great.

For $14.96 I get to rent two movies at a time. I can basically rent as many as I can squeeze into a month, for whenver you send them a movie back, they send the next available one in my Queue of movies I want to see. They pay for the postage, and within two days of sending one in, I get a new one. Nice, fast turnaround.

The only problem is that, right now, I checked out a couple movies that I've seen and wanted to show to my roomate. But I found out that he's not gonna hve time to watch movies until Friday, so I guess I'll have to wait until then to watch Unbreakable and Kung-Pow: Enter The Fist. I should've gotten something that he didn't really care to see and watched it tonight, but oh well. I guess that means I'll have to work on these websites....
