Album Of The Day: The Morning by Andrew Osenga

Album Art of Andrew Osenga's The Morning album - On a orange-ish-red background that is brighter in the middle and darker on the edges, a very simple black line drawing of a man from the shoulders up, with a blank face in profile and two wires coming from where his ears should be and stretching down his body. The person has a pair of wings stretched out behind him, and the background's lower areas has small vertical lines making some sort of shadow.

Released 20 years ago sometime this month (I think), this is the second album from singer-songwriter Andrew Osenga. After The Normals disbanded a few years before, Andrew Osenga was a member of Caedmon's Call but also releasing his own music. This is an independently released rock record about the highs and lows of life, about love found and lost plus his experiences touring the country as a musician and struggling with his Christian faith. Interspersed between the 10 songs are 4 mini-songs, short thoughts only a minute or so long. This album is maybe not a feel-good summer record, but it's a a great listen and reflection point from a young man trying to find life's meaning and his role in the world.
