Album Of The Day: Gravity | Love by Sandra McCracken

Released 20 years ago today, this is the fourth album by singer-songwriter Sandra McCracken. On this album, Sandra records beautiful folk-rock songs with snippets of her everyday life. In "Portadown Station", she sings of her experiences on tour with simple piano and string accompaniment, while "Chattanooga" is more upbeat and full-band rock with themes of travel as well. "Goodbye George" is an farewell to legendary musician and artist George Harrison. There's also some love songs and some religious language here, but much less overt religious content here than some of her other albums which are modern/traditional hymns or folk settings for Biblical texts. These are all original songs with her beautiful voice and Sandra pouring her heart into these songs. I really like the music Sandra McCracken writes and she does a great job on albums like this one.
