Album Of The Day: Forever Now by Switchfoot

Album Art of Switchfoot's Forever Now album - A photo of a man reading a newspaper at a diner booth that is white. He's got in front of him a newspaper, where we can only read the back page design, which says 'Forever Now' in huge capital letters, and has a border which is interrupted in the bottom middle by the words 'Long Live Benjamin Crow'. The paper is clearly thin and has been torn in a few spots where it has been folded. All we can really see of the man is their hands holding the sides of the paper, and a power blue sleeve covering their left arm. The person has coffee in a white mug in front of them on the table.

Released just this past Friday, this is the fourteenth album from San Diego-based rock band Switchfoot. Their first album of new, non-Christmas songs in almost 6 years, this on my second listen seems to be solid album of rock. As they often do, primary songwriters and brothers Jon Foreman and Tim Foreman explore topics of philosophy, existentialism, and love in the lyrics. And they provide it in 13 new songs of guitars, drums, bass and lots of distortion. There's a bit less overt religious talk than some of their previous albums, but it's clear to those that listen closely that their Christian worldview informs their lyrics a lot. I've got to give it a bunch more listens to decide exactly how much I like this album, but I've loved almost everything else they put out, and this album seems like a quality new release from this long-time rock band.
